BPIF Environmental Healthcheck: Revamped and re-launched

The BPIF Environmental Healthcheck has just been through a vigorous overhaul and has been re-launched to enable companies throughout the sector to assess and reduce their environmental impact.

The BPIF Environmental Healthcheck is a computer software tool that enables trained BPIF advisers to quickly and effectively assess a company's performance with respect to the full spectrum of environmental factors affecting the printing and packaging sector today.

The BPIF Environmental Healthcheck tool enables a business's environmental policies and practices to be scored against a set of standardised criteria allowing for a meaningful and measurable assessment of your business' environmental performance.  It allows you to see easily where your business is performing well and highlights areas that may have been neglected or where there is scope for improvement.

The Healthcheck has been cleverly designed to be suitable for organisations of any size from the largest multinational organisations right down to the smallest SMEs and is effective in assessing Environmental Management Systems (EMS) from the most sophisticated systems right down to the most basic including everything in between. An option of a shortened version of the full assessment is also available.

The BPIF Environmental Healthcheck covers all aspects of the environment relevant to the print and packaging sector with 15 sections including General Arrangements, Internal Communication, General Training, Emissions to Air, Discharges to Water, Waste, Producer Responsibility, Resource Efficiency, Handling and Storage, Procurement, Nuisance, Legislation, Environmental Aspects and Impacts, Carbon Reduction, External Communication.

The BPIF Environmental Healthcheck has been  developed and reviewed by sector environmental experts to ensure it has optimum effect in assessing all levels of a company's EMS and to allow relevant benchmarking of environmental performance  and gives the most effective advice on how to improve performance and move towards best practice.

The Healthcheck can help you to ensure legislative compliance by systematically identifying which legislation may be relevant to your business and assessing if legal requirements are currently being met and indicating the next step for you to take under different scenarios.
The Healthcheck can be invaluable in helping to ensure requirements are met for auditing and accreditation of different environmental accreditations such as BS8555 and ISO14001 but can be just as useful as a gap-analysis when first creating or developing an Environmental Management system.
