The Printing Charity unveiled its Supplemental Royal Charter and presented the 2014 Print Futures Awards at its industry event kindly hosted by Baroness Dean of Thornton-le-Fylde on 17 July at the House of Lords.

On the 2 July 2014 BPIF Members' Day returned to Church House Conference Centre in Westminster. It began with a Level 5 Graduate Management Programme workshop for the future leaders of our industry. Kathy Woodward, CEO BPIF, guided delegates through theories of organisational development, encouraging them to analyse their decision-making process whilst looking at the fundamentals of HR, organisation design and strategy through to implementation.

The PrintIT! Awards were held at the Xerox Innovation Centre in Uxbridge.
PrintIT! is an incentive run by Proskills and funded by the print industry. It is a 6-8 week programme aimed at GCSE and A level students studying Graphic Products & Product Design and Media Studies.

In 2012 the European Parliament voted to significantly overhaul current EU data protection laws. As a result, a new single EU General Data Protection Regulation now looks set to replace the existing patchwork of national laws. The new Regulation will affect almost every business operating within the EU, as well as many outside the EU.

Peterborough-based publisher services company Printondemand-worldwide has installed the UK's first Horizon HT-1000V variable trimmer from Intelligent Finishing Systems. The introduction of this machine forms part of a £250,000 investment in integrated workflow, and continues the company's efforts to make its production as lean and of as high a quality as possible.

Birmingham-based Pinstripe Print Group Managing Director, Nigel Lyon, drove the importance of ‘colour in print' at the World Print Summit at IPEX last week. He made it clear that colour is fundamental to print, many say that they are colour specialists, but less than a handful of print companies can prove it.
