Charles Jarrold joins the BPIF as new CEO

Charles Jarrold joins the BPIF as new CEO

The BPIF are delighted to announce Charles Jarrold as their new CEO effective from January 5 2015. Charles has been involved in the print and media sector since the early 1990s.

Qualifying as an accountant with Ernst and Young, he worked in the publishing sector in London for 10 years, moving to Norwich in 1998 to join the print division of family owned Jarrold and Sons Ltd, where his roles included Print Division Finance Director, Operations Director and Managing Director, before the sale of the division to a management buy-in team.

Charles was approached to run Poole based Southernprint, then the commercial print business of newspaper group Newsquest. During his 5 year stay, the business came to be regarded as one of the most customer focused printers in its sector, and he remains proud of the engagement of the workforce in the business that he and his team helped enable.

More recently, Charles worked for St Ives plc as Divisional Managing Director of their web offset division, prior to its sale, and he has concentrated on developing his skills and experience in on-line and e-commerce, particularly concentrating on the intersection of on-line and print. These experiences have enabled Charles to develop an excellent understanding of both print and digital, and a belief that these will continue to present both opportunities and challenges to the print sector.

Of joining the BPIF, Charles said, "I'm delighted to be appointed to this role, and am looking forward to working with the BPIF Board, members and staff. As an organisation, the BPIF has been through a period of significant development led by Kathy, and is now in a great position to assist its members in adapting to the changes in the sector. My immediate priority is to meet the team at the BPIF, and as many members as possible, in order to ensure that we continue to develop the BPIF in a manner that reflects their requirements".
