Climb of Life 2014

It's that time of year again for some 120 trekkers to battle the British elements and climb an array of mountain peaks (with many of the stronger groups attempting High Street from several different angles) in the Lake District in aid of the Institute of Cancer Research. The Climb of Life is now in its 27th year and hopes to beat last year's total amount raised of £81,380.

Graeme Chapman, organiser of the climb, comments, "It's pretty amazing after years of persuading people to drag themselves up mountains in the cold (and maybe snow) in darkest November, they still want to keep doing it and in ever increasing numbers! I'm told it's a British thing to want to find a real challenge out of our comfort zone to help and support a brilliant cause that affects each and every one of us in one way or another."

At the beginning of the year the CEO of the Institute of Cancer Research, Professor Alan Ashworth said, "As one of the world's most influential cancer research institutes, the ICR has been responsible for many of the advances in cancer research, increasing our understanding of the causes of the disease and developing new treatments. Our scientists and clinicians continue to work everyday in our laboratories to make a real impact on cancer patients lives and that they are able to do so is due in no small part to the generosity of fund raisers. We are hugely grateful for all your continued dedication and support."
