The Printing Charity unveils its Supplemental Royal Charter and presents the 2014 Print Futures Awards

The Printing Charity unveils its Supplemental Royal Charter and presents the 2014 Print Futures Awards

The Printing Charity unveiled its Supplemental Royal Charter and presented the 2014 Print Futures Awards at its industry event kindly hosted by Baroness Dean of Thornton-le-Fylde on 17 July at the House of Lords.

Stephen Gilbert, Chief Executive of The Printing Charity, said: "The Printing Charity has always supported people in printing, publishing, graphic arts and allied trades and our new Supplemental Royal Charter ensures we have the flexibility to respond to changes as they happen in the industry. It also gives our Trustees the power to assist young people, who intend working in the industry, by contributing towards the cost of their education."

He described the charity as forward-looking, enthusiastic and focused, while remaining true to its roots of the relief of poverty and helping older people. Its profile, however, needs to be higher and he invited those attending to help the charity reach more people.

Jon Wright, The Printing Charity's Chairman, presented the Print Futures Awards to the 24 winners, the highest number ever awarded, commenting that the judges had been impressed with the enthusiasm and optimism these young people have for the industry. He also thanked Terry Ulrick, the Print Futures Awards Secretary who, he said, set the scheme up originally with BPIF and has made the Awards happen for the past 12 years.
