All-Party Parliamentary Print Group attracts Lords and MPs with topic of trust in democracy

On the 2 July 2014 BPIF Members' Day returned to Church House Conference Centre in Westminster. It began with a Level 5 Graduate Management Programme workshop for the future leaders of our industry. Kathy Woodward, CEO BPIF, guided delegates through theories of organisational development, encouraging them to analyse their decision-making process whilst looking at the fundamentals of HR, organisation design and strategy through to implementation.

This was followed by the 6th Annual General Meeting of the British Printing Industries Federation, opened by Tony Garnish, President of the BPIF, who gave an overview of how print, has fared over the past 12 months and how the BPIF has continued to play an important role in supporting the industry. Kathy Woodward then reported on developments in each of the four cornerstones the BPIF support their members in; research and profile, networking, services and products.

The APPPG Reception moved delegates on to the Terrace Pavilion at the House of Lords, where views of the London Eye and Big Ben were admired. The event attracted over 20 MPs and Lords with MPs including Mike Gapes, Ian Paisley, Mark Hunter and Jim Hood and Lords including Lord Clement-Jones, Baroness Howe, Lord Inglewood and Lord Teverson. In addition over 150 people from all areas of the printing industry attended and were able to enjoy the sunshine and network on the terrace.

The day ended with a rousing speech from Kathy Woodward, CEO BPIF, who addressed the day's theme by talking about print's clearly proven 'trust factor' and calling to action all those responsible for promoting education and choice in a democratic society. She also called on the 130,000 individuals employed in the print industry to shout from the roof tops that people want something very simple: to be able to read important messaging in their own home, and they want it to be clear and honest.
