Get closer to your niche market
If you are a business operating in a specialist market or are differentiating your business, you will want to maximise its potential and maintain its momentum. Special Interest Groups (SIG's) are like-minded communities that are keen to ensure their interests are catered for and all relevant knowledge is available. SIG's do not erode your own competitive advantage but provide a forum for gaining relevant ideas and knowledge, leveraging the power of the BPIF to support your corner wherever required.
The BPIF’s Special Interest Group forums, conferences, workshops and technical committees offer companies operating in a distinct marketplace or area of service technology an opportunity to meet people in a similar situation as well as those on the service supply chain who are or should be investing in solutions to maintain an advantage.
SIGS organise technology tours, orchestrate top sector advisors and generally provide a focal point for your best interests. We bring the supply chain to you with events that are tailored to your needs. How you develop this into strategies that maximise your profits and grow your own business model is your own competitive advantage.
We want to be sure you have all the information and support available for the success of your business and that the supply chain is supporting your endeavours. But above all, SIG's exists to promote the profitability of each member company.
The BPIF’s Special Interest Groups
BPIF Cartons
BPIF Cartons is the folding carton Special Interest Group of the British Printing Industries Federation. Their membership represents three quarters of the UK carton market. Having successfully lobbied the Government on packaging waste and major retailer abuse of power, we have proved that companies can pull together within their specialist niche industry and become a forceful voice to be reckoned with.
Book Production Section
BPS is the Special Interest Group for manufacturers of books and journals. The group now networks over 85% of book manufacturing in the UK. Exclusive events in the UK and abroad explore developments in this fast changing sector, and strategic meetings are held with other key components of the book and journal supply chain.
The prestigious annual British Book Design and Production Awards is also managed through the Section. This special event celebrating the very best of British book design and manufacturing provides a unique opportunity to network with suppliers and customers throughout the book supply chain.
BPIF Finishers
BPIF Finishers is a Special Interest Group for British Binders and Finishers. The group currently has over 50 members under the Chairmanship of Ian Chamberlain, Tudor Bookbinding Limited. Meetings are held three times per year to discuss current industry issues and exchange best practice. This is usually allied to a visit to a related business/factory with an appropriate guest speaker, or overseas study tours to binding and finishing companies and other related industries.
BPIF Engraved Stationery
The primary purpose of BPIF Engraved Stationery Special Interest Group is to market the British engraved stationery industry more widely throughout the printing industry, encourage best practice and create an environment that enables the exchange of views and information on key issues affecting its members. This includes increasing the awareness and knowledge of diestamping and associated processes to designers, graphic houses and print buyers, and acting as a forum for the transfer of professional knowledge and advice between members.
BPIF Labels
BPIF Labels (formerly the British Roll Labels Association - BRLA) enjoys a high profile within the label industry and through its activities its members help to promote and increase the use of labels.
The association has 39 members under the chairmanship of Non-Executive Chairman, John Bambery, Ex Managing Director and owner of Lancastrian Labels Ltd.
In-house & Corporate Print Services
The role of this group is to be an organisation that provides a forum for companies from a wide range of industries, local authorities and other public sector bodies and organisations within printing and print finishing departments to exchange information and meet the technological and commercial challenges of the 21st Century.
Activities include providing a structured networking facility where practical and technical issues can be openly discussed and best practice is shared.
BPIF Digital
BPIF Digital is a Special Interest Group open to both BPIF members and non-members. It is aimed at companies that are considering adopting digital print as well as those that have recently taken the leap but want to develop knowledge and skills in order to maximise their return on investment.
The group is facilitated by consultant Jo Lloyd, and takes the format of webinars, national and regional practical workshops, seminars, and networking lunches.

Slight recovery of output and orders falls short of expectations in Q4 - confidence concerns mount in 2024
22 February 2024
Performance in the UK's printing and printed packaging industry did improve in Q4, as far as output and orders are concerned. However, it didn't come close to what would historically be considered the seasonal norm, nor quite match the subdued expectations for Q4.
The BPIF is the printing industries champion. By becoming a member you join a diverse and influential community. We help you solve business problems, connect you to new customers and suppliers and make your voice heard in government.
