Take advantage of your free IT healthcheck
Following on from a previous article covering "concerns over cyber security" and the offer of a free IT security check for members of the BPIF, a number of members have asked what is included in the free healthcheck.
The offer of a free IT Security check includes the following:
A conference call to evaluate your current situation:
- The equipment you have in place
- The current software that is in place
- How you staff and suppliers access your systems
- Scope the requirements for the check
Remote software check
- We check your server for security vulnerabilities
- We check a sample up to 3 PC's for security vulnerabilities
- A basic test of your firewall security
An advisory report
- This includes what has been found in the check
- Any recommendations you may need to consider for your organisation.
The free security check offers a great snapshot of how secure your systems are and this will give you a good indication of any procedures or software that may need updating or changing within your organisation. If any issues are found we will advise you on how to resolve those issues within your environment.
You may find that you require more vigorous checks to be completed on certain aspects of your network. Alternatively you may have further insurer or auditor requirements that require full on penetration testing of your systems and websites. Whilst such in depth checks will not be included within the free test we are able provide such testing as and when required.
The BPIF can even help your company obtain ISO 27001. The real benefits of obtaining the standard are to give your customers assurance that their sensitive data is safe in the your company.
It also gives the printer better access to tender opportunities where compliance with the standard is increasingly becoming a requirement.

22 February 2024
Performance in the UK's printing and printed packaging industry did improve in Q4, as far as output and orders are concerned. However, it didn't come close to what would historically be considered the seasonal norm, nor quite match the subdued expectations for Q4.
The BPIF is the printing industries champion. By becoming a member you join a diverse and influential community. We help you solve business problems, connect you to new customers and suppliers and make your voice heard in government.
