Continuing to represent the self adhesive label industry

BPIF labels recently held a successful golf day, networking dinner and technical seminar at The Breadsall Priory, Derbyshire.

The event which was supported by the major suppliers to the self adhesive label industry addressed some of the issues relating to the continuing development of flexographic machinery, improvements to repro with the introduction of spotless repro, the effects that incorrect use of anilox rolls can have on quality, the problem of ink migration as well some of the other issues affecting the industry. The technical seminar was brought to a close by Mike Fairley who gave a very detailed review of the industry and some of the developments in worldwide markets. Over 60 people attended the event and there were 10 table top exhibitors.

The individual golf prize was won by Mike Jackson (PRISMM) with 36 points and the team prize was won by the team comprising: Colin Philips (Herma), Ralph Bates (HP), John Hammond (Nilpeter) and Mark Cornford (Integrity Print) with 120 points.

The next event will be held at the Marriott Hotel - Forest of Arden in Warwickshire on 8th and 9th October. It will feature on the development of digital label printing in the label industry and will be sponsored by HP Indigo.  The event will be a post Labelex and will therefore feature some of the latest developments. A full review of the state of the industry and its take up of digital processes will be given by Mike Fairley. The key note speaker will be Matthew Daniels - Global Capability Leader for Printing and Decoration from Unilever. The event programme will shortly be available on the BPIF labels web site.
