BPIF expand training portfolio with Professional Development Awards
BPIF Training has launched Professional Development Awards to expand their portfolio which already encompasses: foundation, advanced and higher apprenticeships, management programmes, a master's programme, one day workshops and bespoke training to cater for a business's needs. The Professional Development Awards, accredited and awarded by the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA), focus on addressing skills requirements identified by the industry.
The Awards are aimed at individuals who, while being experienced in their job role, may not hold a relevant qualification. They will also be appropriate for employees wishing to demonstrate continuous professional development and candidates who wish to further enhance their skills with a view to career development in a new field of the print industry.
Specific learning and assessment materials have been developed jointly by the BPIF and Attain Training to standardise the delivery and assessment of the qualifications across the UK.
Each award will run for approximately six months to one year, depending on the candidate's experience, to be completed alongside the candidate's job with support from an experienced BPIF training co-ordinator who will provide on and off-site support.
The Professional Development Awards available are:
- Digital Artwork
- Sheet Fed Lithography
- Web Offset Printing
- Digital Printing
- Flexography
- Print Finishing 1
- Print Finishing 2
- Print Administration 1
- Print Administration 2
The Awards are priced at £950 VAT per award, per candidate which includes registration, all learning materials and a dedicated training co-ordinator who will visit the candidate in the workplace. Local funding may be available to support with cost.

22 February 2024
Performance in the UK's printing and printed packaging industry did improve in Q4, as far as output and orders are concerned. However, it didn't come close to what would historically be considered the seasonal norm, nor quite match the subdued expectations for Q4.
