Pas 75 Gap analysis tool now available from BPIF Business

BPIF Business has completed the development of its PAS 75 gap analysis tool that will allow companies to identify what they have to do order to gain certification against the Publicly Available Standard for Print Production and Services. PAS 75 was developed by the BPIF and BSI and has been designed to reflect the criteria used by print buyers when selecting a printer of choice.

Over 50 companies have expressed an interest to the BPIF in attaining the standard since it was launched late last year in conjunction with Vision in Print’s Best Practice Study in Customer Service, “What makes a good printer?”.

“Before companies book the certification process they should be clear on how likely they are to achieve the standard as a result of the auditors’ visit. Booking a certification process without undertaking the gap analysis would be like paying for a driving test before investing in some lessons.  You would need to be supremely confident in your abilities to do that. The gap analysis will confirm a company’s readiness for PAS 75 certification by not only telling them exactly where they are today against the standard, but what’s required in order to satisfy external auditors,” says Head of BPIF Business, Gil Reid Robbins.

BPIF advisors across the UK have been trained to deliver the gap analysis. The programme involves a pre-visit Document List, sent in advance and advising what information is needed to undertake the gap analysis, followed by a one an a half day programme (one day on-site) by a BPIF Business advisor. During this visit evidence to demonstrate conformity with PAS 75 requirements will be reviewed, and interviews with relevant members of staff may also be required. Following the visit companies will receive a detailed report showing where there are gaps between the requirements of PAS 75 and current procedures and documentation and a tailored support plan outlining further work required. The PAS 75 gap analysis programme is available from BPIF Business at £995 + VAT.

Companies wishing to see what’s required from the standard can buy copies of PAS75 from BSI for £64 plus postage and packing. BPIF members receive a £10 discount if ordering through the BPIF or BSI websites. Please visit www.britishprint.com for more information. You are not required to undertake a gap analysis as part of PAS75 but it is recommended.
